La communauté régionale de Hearst

Située dans le nord de l’Ontario, la ville de Hearst compte environ 6 000 résidents. Ville forestière fondée en 1922, son économie est axée sur l’industrie primaire du bois. Trois grandes usines en font son exploitation : Colombia Forest Products, Lecours Lumber Company et Tembec Forest Products Group. Elle sert de centre commercial pour les communautés environnantes. Entre Cochrane et Thunder Bay, Hearst se trouve sur la route 11, transcanadienne. On y trouve de nombreuses et moyennes entreprises prospères et plusieurs entrepreneurs autonomes locaux. Le français est la langue maternelle de quatre- vingt-dix pour cent des résidents.

Located in Northern Ontario, along the Trans-Canada Highway between Cochrane and Thunder Bay, the City of Hearst, with its population of 6,000, is the region’s commercial heart. Founded in 1922, its main employer has always been the forest industry, with three large mills: Colombia Forest Products, Lecours Lumber Company and Tembec Forest Product Group. The area also counts numerous PME’s and local entrepreneurs. Eighty per cent of the town’s residents have French as their mother tongue.
